I made this video one day when I had listened to story after story of my friends and colleagues explain what was the real catalyst in their success in their chosen endeavor.
As I finished this video, I went and watched some of my favorite movie clips that sum up today’s message in a nutshell.
And finally… thank-you Steve Jobs for a commercial that he did that changed the course of my life…
The masses of average people keep each other in line… the blind lead the blind. Just remember that if you are doing something different and it seems crazy to most people… you have joined the beliefs and ranks of the worlds most successful and influential people who make positive differences in the lives of millions.
What’s wrong with the world? Is it Fear? Greed? Selfishness? Ruling Elites? Or does the issue lie deeper…
It doesn’t take a Rocket Scientist or in this day and age or a quantum computer programmer to look at the world and wonder… “Where did we go wrong?” You might think to yourself “How did things get so bad”? Where did my job go? Why the recession? When’s the next shoe gonna drop and financial Armageddon begins? And last but not least… “OH NO!! 2012 IS ALMOST HERE!”
The Fear mongering and apocalyptic scenarios bombard us on every medium, TV, internet, even Twitter and FaceBook is full of insane rants about doomsday scenarios. We are being inundated with fear…. PARALYZING FEAR… Almost every waking minute, especially if you are the type to watch the mainstream news every day…. Holy Sacred Cows will we even survive?
Let me awaken you to the light at the end of the tunnel.
It is obvious to see the blatant grabs for power and greed among the government, corporate and financial elite, we see how it affects the common person… lack of jobs, inflation, higher prices, more competition and a lower standard of living.
You don’t have to be a “conspiracy buff” to understand how the world works. The sickening part is that it’s all in the name of profit, the bottom line. Even deeper than that it’s about control, it’s about having power to control and manipulate. It’s quite an ego trip… the pinnacle of arrogance, pompous reasoning and greed.
We all see what is going on in the world today and one has to wonder “How could someone as small and insignificant as me possibly affect any positive change?
A feeling of hopelessness and growing resentment once again rears its ugly head and you feel overwhelmed with all that you have suffered and fought for seems to have gotten you nowhere and everyday the anxiety builds.
So a time comes …
When in the middle of all your paralyzing fears and lunacy you somehow find a way to stop dead in your tracks… That’s when the voice inside your head that you don’t hear too often screams out ENOUGH!
Enough of the pointing fingers, enough of the blame and resentment about who did what to you and why so much personal struggle?
Then like a toddler calming down after throwing a temper tantrum, you blink your eyes and wipe away the tears only to find that along with the tears you have wiped away are your old views of reality…
This is your moment of awakening.
You now see that its time to let go of the hoping and waiting for your circumstances to just “get better”, or for the government to bail you out of this mess. You realize that your security and stability is not to be taken care of by somebody else.
You now see that in today’s world the “romantic comedy” movie ending is not a reality unless you work at romance and develop a sense of humor. Happily ever after is an ongoing choice that begins with you and not just fairy-tale luck and happenstance.
You begin to realize that it’s all about “HOW YOU REACT” to life’s circumstances not what happens to you. Only you can control what you choose to believe AND only you can control what actions you take to break free of being a prisoner in your own mind.
You realize that the only person that consciously gives away your power to direct your own thoughts and your actions IS YOU.
Out of this a sense of self-acceptance is born. A new you is about to embark on a journey.
You now understand that no matter what you do, you cannot always please all of the people all of the time but only some of the people some of the time AND THAT IS OK. Everyone has the free will to choose how they want to react to their own interpretation of the world.
You learn that all choices are half chance and not to beat yourself up over trying to do the right thing and failing at it miserably. You realize that giving yourself credit for how far you have come is a rare virtue to be cherished and from this a sense of self-approval starts to cultivate within.
You realize that the only constant is change and change with it you must. You learn the only thing you can really count on is the unforeseen events that blindside you when you least expect it. From this a virtue of faith in yourself and inner strength is developed.
You learn it’s true about the saying “If it’s going to be, it’s up to me” and a sense of self-reliance and resourcefulness is resolved.
You now realize that most people are only reacting to what they understand about the world they live in…Which nobody can completely understand in its entirety regardless of education, experience or background and this includes you. Out of this the virtue of patience with yourself and others is nurtured.
You stop judging and chastising others for their decisions and begin to accept that we are all just trying to do what’s best for ourselves and our families, regardless of what worldview or belief system one holds. Out of this you learn to stop taking things so personal.
You learn to admit when you are wrong and you realize how much your limiting beliefs have held you back and nobody did that to you but yourself. A new sense of honest self examination and humility is born.
You learn to draw lines in the sand and understand the difference between guilt and responsibility and to not let your family and friends inappropriately rob you of your personal power and will.
You learn that you only get one body to care for in this lifetime and you better start learning how to take care of it better so that you can “extend its shelf life”.
You learn that self-doubt and procrastination breed inactivity and paralysis. Out of this you choose to take the first step of a journey of a thousand miles.
You learn that anger, resentment, jealousy, envy and unforgiveness are poisonous choices that will choke the life and health out of you and rob you of your vital personal energy and power. From this a process of forgiveness and acceptance happens and you begin to gather energy that you never knew that you had.
You learn to let go of embarrassment and ridicule by friends and family for stepping outside of what they have always believed you to be. Out of this the realization of how free you actually are is embraced.
The dramatic realization that all unhappiness originates from selfishness and service only to self cuts you down to the core and you learn that life is not all about you. You finally see that the fulfillment that comes from service to others is an honor that only the wisest of souls have the privilege of enjoying.
Instead of habits and beliefs that are self-sabotaging, choose to adapt beliefs and virtues that are life-enhancing and providence will move in your direction and the world will beat a path to your door with blessings.
Each one of these virtues can dramatically transform your life on its own. But to own all of them is to be the master of your fate and the captain of your soul.
